Oracle cards came to my life in 2012. I was living in Chile and my sweet reiki teacher introduced me to the world of tarot, oracle, and Lenormand cards. I loved roaming the small esoteric shops that were filled with decks from floor to ceiling. It was an enchanting magical world that I had been seeking for since I was a little girl.
Now many years later, I have an incredibly magical life and an incredibly deep connection with Spirit. I receive a lot of intuitive information through dreams and the mental realm. My psychic senses are very active and I feel and see so much of what is not visible and not said out loud. I pick up a lot of information from everywhere around me. It is been a slow unfolding to learn to trust myself and my intuitive insights. Now I am at a point where the invisible world is as real as the visible one, if not more so.
I still read cards almost daily. I love to be in communication with Spirit and cards are just one of the myriad of ways to do it. They call me out on my biases and give me some tough love. They offer a clear mirror of any energy I’m experiencing, and help me interpret it in deeper ways. They can easily clarify the complexity and nuance of my energetic experience. They give me insight into relationships, my blind spots, the most aligned courses of action, and where to best focus my energy and thoughts at any given moment. They are quick to get me out of my mental loops, doubts, and confusion. I LOVE the relationship I have developed to oracle cards throughout the years and I love how until this day they remain a trusted companion I can always turn to for advice. It is invaluable to have something to help me access the subtle energetic information in the moments I don’t myself have full clarity on it and need to bypass the noise of my conscious mind in order to access the deeper levels.
Oracle cards are a mirror of our subconscious mind (the conscious mind hosts our loud daily thoughts whereas the subconscious is like a sea right underneath the conscious mind, filled with emotions, memories, creativity, and intuitive information). In fact, anything can be used as a mirror of our subconscious mind. You can read information from tea leaves, the shape of clouds in the sky, animal tracks, surface of the water, song lyrics, dreams, stars, books, anywhere really. Our ancestors knew this and lived in deep communication with the unseen world. You don’t need to be psychic to receive information from Spirit, you only need to develop a connection to your own intuition, learn to understand how it communicates with you in every moment, really listen to it, and then just trust it.
Oracle cards offer such a variety of information and they can be read in many different ways. You could be highly tuned to the colors, the visual imagery, the mere ENERGY of the card, or certain words and phrases in the guidebook. We don’t read the cards in a fixed way, rather it is an alive relationship that calls your attention to SOMETHING. That something could be a specific tiny detail in the card that starts talking to you in the moment, it could be an association that pops into your mind the moment you see the card, it could be an emotion it evokes, or the plain meaning given in the guidebook. Developing a relationship with oracle cards (it can take some time and isn’t always instant and inmediate) is developing a relationship with our own intuition.
Working with cards is also about working with our own selves and psychology. It is a therapeutic experience to get guidance and honest mirroring of our situation at hand. It also helps us to understand our minds and emotions in extremely deep ways, as we can access information that normally evades us and can otherwise be hard to pinpoint in words. We become so much more familiar with our psyche, patterns, and how situations and people around us affect us. In our daily lives we sometimes tend to make decisions from our fears, traumas, and egos, and the cards can reveal the truth beyond those ego-based responses. What a valuable and powerful tool that is! An incredible asset for healing and awakening.
